AREA DESCRIPTION
The apartment is located nearby the Tiber River, 50 mt. From Trilussa Square. It is situated beside the Woman International House, a most recent cultural entre facing the Academia dei Lincei, one of the major scientific institutions in Italy, in the heart of Trastevere, one of Rome?s oldest and most characteristic neighbourhoods. Many years ago Trasevere was inhabited by artisans and small shop keepers who were attracted by the river ports situated south of the Tiberina Island.

This quarter has maintained its typical popular character; it is here, where renown poets sang in the romanesque dialects.On both sides of the noisy Viale Trastevere, artisans shop and groceries crowd the alleys wich are protected by little paintings of the Holy Mary illuminated by a tiny lantern.

On summer evenings, happy groups meet under the pergola in the quiet squares for big family dinners, so typical of Rome life. Among the most ineresting sites to visit here there are the Anguillara?s Tower, St. Crisogono Church, St. Cecilia Santuary, Trilussa Square and the Basilica of St. Maria in Trastevere.
