San Piero Terre is a small hamlet of buildings
located one kilometer away from Gaiole in Chianti.
The property has been in the family of its current
owner for generations. It is a wonderful property
situated on a hillside above the road to Siena,
and provides views out to vineyards and the Chianti
hills. Much of the well-maintained garden is fenced
in, and the large swimming pool (6x12 m.) is a
delightful place to enjoy the lovely views. The
family housekeeper also lives on the property
in a separate house on the spacious grounds, and
is available to assist guests for an extra charge.
This property is an ideal one for exploring
the Chianti and other areas of Tuscany. It is
right in the heart of the Chianti near vineyards
and olive groves. Florence is 55 km. away; Siena
is 25 km.; and San Gmignano can be reached in
45 min. (50 km.).
THE MAINHOUSE
The mainhouse has the genuine feel of
a traditional Tuscan country villa, with high
ceilings and large rooms. The ground floor has
been renovated in the year 2000, refreshing the
walls and ceilings , adding a new bathroom, and
restoring the kitchen. On this floor there is
a nice sized entrance hall which leads to a very
large living room with fireplace that has a door
to the garden. In addition, there is a dining
room that is large enough to accommodate 16 people
if the entire property is rented by one group.
The kitchen is extremely large, with an original
country fireplace and a vaulted brick ceiling
done in an interesting pattern. The recent restoration
means that all of the appliances are new. Near
the living room is a bedroom for two with an ensuite
bathroom (with tub)
The second floor is reached by a flight
of old stone steps. On this floor there is another
large sitting room with a fireplace, antique furniture,
oriental rugs and ceiling-high bookcases. There
are five twin-bedded rooms on this floor, one
of them with an ensuite bathroom with shower.
The other bedrooms share two bathrooms, one with
a shower and the other with a bathtub and hand-shower.
They are all comfortably furnished in traditional
Italian style.
The Villa has its own garden area to the
side of the house away from the Dependance for
eating and sitting outside. From this area there
are lovely views to the countryside. There is
also a barbeque/pizza oven for guests? use. The
villa is equipped with a washing machine, dishwasher,
telephone, and satellite TV.
THE DEPENDANCE
On the grounds of San Piero Terre there
is a small independent house that is separated
from the villa by a garden area with a trellis.
The house has one very large room on the first
floor filled with beamed ceilings and wooden posts
that give it a cozy, warm feeling. In one part
of the room, in front of the fireplace, there
are several couches. There is a dining room table
next to the nicely decorated kitchen corner. The
kitchen is equipped with a modern dishwasher,
washing machine and oven with four-burner cooktop.
TV (Italian television stations) and telephone
There are two bedrooms reached by a flight
of wooden stairs. One of them is a double-bedded
room, the other a twin-bedded room. The wooden
beamed roofs of the bedrooms are slanting, creating
a cozy feel. There is a TV on this floor (Italian
television stations). The one bathroom has a shower.
Guests at the Dependance also have their
own garden area with tables for eating outside
while enjoying the view.
